BOKGONI MATLA EMPHASISES USE OF DATA TO IMPROVE AFRICA’S MINING SECTOR
DAR ES SALAAM – Bokgoni Matla, a company headquartered in Pretoria, South Africa, has emphasised the importance of effective data utilisation in improving the efficiency of mining operations and addressing challenges facing various organisations and companies across Africa.
Speaking at the 10th International Mining Technology Exhibition (Minexpo Africa), being held at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Dar es Salaam, the company’s Managing Partner, Melvin Ekanjo, said data is an essential tool that enables institutions to make informed decisions and gain a better understanding of their operational environments.
He said the company, which specialises in providing consultancy services to the mining sector across Africa, has been helping organisations strengthen their internal capacity and improve efficiency by using data to identify and address challenges facing their operations.
Ekanjo said Bokoni Matla provides training and consultancy services to various institutions to ensure they effectively utilise data in their day-to-day activities.
He added that the company’s participation in the exhibition aims to strengthen partnerships with other mining sector stakeholders who share similar objectives, while also providing an opportunity to exchange experiences and establish new business relationships.
He said the achievements recorded through their participation include attracting inquiries and interest from stakeholders across different sectors, including human resources, operations and sales professionals. This, he noted, demonstrates that data utilisation is essential across all departments within an organisation.
Furthermore, he stressed that Africa needs to invest more in developing the capacity of its people so they can address challenges facing the continent rather than relying on experts from outside Africa.
He emphasised that training should be prioritised and made a fundamental part of institutional development, noting that the implementation of all organisational activities depends on the skills, knowledge and capabilities of people.
